Vinted Members Voice Displeasure Regarding Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the new system was more in line with similar services.
They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Updates
Previously, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options after backlash from users.
