Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might seem mismatched, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing started the campaign’s events—used the foes for his own means, breaking into the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, wants vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the party enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The cleric defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to head to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Questers and Schemers tables.
Fans can expect learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
