Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Officers say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered multiple other marked automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests suggest the substance was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; authorities are not yet cognizant of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the public for details.
A senior political figure said the incident made him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
